Glastonbury, CT Vahid Karimi has joined WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff as a vice president and will serve as traffic engineering practice lead for New England, overseeing traffic planning and engineering design projects throughout the region. Karimi has more than 34 years of experience in traffic engineering, signal system design, operation and safety improvement of highways/intersections, and land development projects. He has extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering projects from inception to design and construction. He will draw on that background to help state agencies, municipalities, and private clients manage transportation infrastructure projects.
Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Karimi was a principal and director of traffic and systems engineering for a Connecticut engineering firm, responsible for statewide traffic engineering services for business development activities.

Karimi is a registered professional engineer and a fellow with the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Merrimack College with advanced training in signal system design at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Northwestern University. He is a member of the ITE traffic engineering council, transportation safety council, and transportation and development institute. He is also a member of the Connecticut section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
