Karl Case to speak at April 14th breakfast program

Karl Case is the Katharine Coman and A. Barton Hepburn professor of economics at Wellesley College where he has taught for over 30 years.
He is also a founding partner in the real estate research firm of Fiserv Case Shiller Weiss, Inc. and serves as a member of the boards of directors of the Mortgage Guaranty Insuance Corporation (MGIC) and the Depositors Insurance Fund of Massachusetts. Case is a membr of the Standard and Poors Index Advisory Committee, the Academic Advisory Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Board of Advisors of the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston at Harvard University.
Professor Case's reserch has been in the areas of real estate, housing, and public finance. He is author or co-author of five books and has published numerous articles in professional journals, including Principles of Economics, Economics and Tax Policy and Property Taxation: The Need for Reform and has published numerous articles in professional journals. Principles of Economics, a basic text co-authored with Ray Fair and Sharon Oster, is in its ninth edition.
Case will address the proximal case of the financial mess we're in because of this real estate bubble. He will answer the following questions:
* How did it happen?
* Are we at the bottom?
* Where do we go from here?

On Thursday, May 27th Jeffrey Furber will be the guest speaker at the Stamford Marriott from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Furber is the chief executive of AEW Capital Management and chairman of AEW Europe. Furber has oversight responsibility for all of AEW's operating business units in the United States, Europe and Asia. He also chairs the firm's various management committees, which are responsible for AEW's strategic direction and for managing the firm's resources. Members pay $35; non-members $60.
