Doug Landry, AICP, VHB's senior vice president for land development services, was appointed to NAIOP's (the Commercial Real Estate Development Association) board of directors at its annual meeting in San Diego, California on October 7th. Landry will serve a three-year term beginning January 1st, 2014.
NAIOP is the leading organization for developers, owners and investors of office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate. As a NAIOP board member, Landry will work alongside industry leaders to help advance responsible commercial real estate development, ownership and investment. NAIOP conducts research assessing the trends, economic viability and needs of the built environment and identifies future development opportunities, employment trends and the vital role commercial real estate plays in the economy.
Landry is well-recognized in the Massachusetts real estate development community and has been an active member of NAIOP Corporate, serving as a member of the Trends in Real Estate Development II Forum and as past chair of the state and local subcommittee. He will also serve as chair of the national environment & infrastructure committee for two years beginning in January 2014. In addition, Landry has held several leadership roles in NAIOP Massachusetts, including vice president of public affairs.

At VHB, Landry leads the overall strategic direction of the land development practice for the firm. He works to promote the consistent delivery of high quality skills and services to clients, expand VHB's client base, and grow market share. Landry has significant experience in formulating strategies for the review and approval of major and complex land development projects throughout the Commonwealth.
In addition to Landry's leadership within NAIOP, he works to promote economic development through his active participation in the Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development (MassEcon). He is a past co-chair of MassEcon's membership committee and continues to assist in the recruitment of new members to that organization. Landry is also a member of the national advisory board for Brighten a Life, a non-profit organization that focuses on positively impacting the learning environments, living conditions, and communities of disadvantaged children and families.
