Local artists bring colorful murals to life at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk

South Windsor, CT A team of local artists will be putting paint to glass on storefront windows throughout The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk. The project is a collaboration between the shopping center and RiseUP for Arts, a Hartford-based nonprofit aimed at creating public art that is inclusive and accessible to anyone.

In an effort to showcase a variety of local talent and style throughout the outdoor shopping center, RiseUP has tapped nine local artists to each create their own mural, which will serve as beautiful, colorful public art for all to enjoy throughout the spring and summer season. The artists were given creative freedom to bring to life artwork that evokes positive emotion while incorporating colorful hues and springtime themes.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with RiseUP on this new art initiative,” said Nicole Powell, marketing director at the Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk.

“With the return of warm weather and more visitors strolling through our center, we felt it was a great time to show off all the talents of our local art community in a fun, family-friendly display,”.

The painting will begin on Saturday, April 23 and will be completed on Sunday, May 1. In addition to witnessing the public artwork come to life throughout the week, guests are invited to come back to The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk to vote on their favorite mural, with prizes awarded to the top 3 artists. Voters will also be entered for the chance to win a $200 gift card to The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk.

To celebrate the new murals, the first 50 children to stop by The Green at the shopping center on May 1st between 11am-2pm will get to paint and take home their own artwork, courtesy of artists from Posh Paint.

The local artists painting the window murals includes: Chris Gann, Julie Bergeron, Ben Keller, Jaii Marc Renee, Andre Rochester, Jillian Goeler, Heather Herindeen, Sophie Groenstein, Katherine Tolve
