Margulies Perruzzi Architects designed ReadyMED by Fallon Clinic; Cutler Associates was project CM

Margulies Perruzzi Architects, one of Boston's most innovative architectural and interior design firms, recently completed the design of ReadyMED by Fallon Clinic. ReadyMED is one of the first physician-staffed, walk-in medical care clinics in central Massachusetts to offer convenient, non-emergency medical services for adults, infants and children. A ribbon-cutting and open house were held at the clinic recently. Construction management services were provided by Cutler Associates, of Worcester, Mass. The 5,000 s/f ReadyMED facility stands out from retail clinics in that physician will be on the premises at all times, as well as advanced practitioners and other medical professionals. The facility also features X-ray and laboratory services on-site. "The ReadyMED clinic represents a new care delivery model in central Massachusetts, so it required a new design approach that would promote a uniquely positive patient experience," said John Duggan, director of real estate and retail subsidiaries at Fallon Clinic. "Given our relationship with the Margulies team, we knew that they could provide the expertise in clinical design and the fresh thinking that were required to create a welcoming, state-of-the-art environment for our patients." Focused on patient convenience, the design concept for the ReadyMED clinic aims to demystify the relationship between the patient and the healthcare provider. This is achieved using transparency throughout the space that creates a comfortable, attractive environment, while also maintaining patient privacy. Separate waiting rooms are provided for children and adults, and patients have access to wireless Internet in the waiting areas. "With ReadyMED, Fallon Clinic has reconceived the entire walk-in medical care experience from start to finish," said Marc Margulies, principal of Margulies Perruzzi Architects. "Our design team met this exciting challenge by discarding any pre-conceived notions of what a clinical environment should be. We worked from a blank slate to create the model for an exceptional walk-in medical care experience that sets the clinic's cutting-edge clinical resources and tools within a pleasurable, efficient environment." Margulies Perruzzi Architects also previously designed New England Scope, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fallon Clinic located in Worcester, Massachusetts that provides outpatient endoscopic services. Now in its 20th year of operation, Margulies Perruzzi Architects is a Boston design firm providing architecture and interior design services to the corporate, professional services, healthcare, research and development, and real estate communities. Consistently ranked as one of Boston's top architectural and interior design firms, the firm's clients include Manulife/John Hancock, Nuvera Fuel Cells, Covidien, Partners Healthcare, Massachusetts General Hospital, Hobbs Brook Management and Forrester Research. Cutler Associates has serviced healthcare clients for more than 25 years, providing integrated design and construction solutions for medical office, hospitals, ambulatory care, laboratories, hospice, and senior living clients. The company is currently completing Medical Office Building in Worcester and a new Hospice Facility for the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast in Palm Harbor, Florida.
