MassEcon welcomes 19 companies new to Mass. at the Eighth Annual Corporate Welcome Reception

Cambridge, MA MassEcon welcomed 19 companies new to Mass. at its Eighth Annual Corporate Welcome Reception at Sanofi Genzyme’s headquarters. This one-of-a-kind event brings together over 100 private sector leaders and senior state officials, including governor Charlie Baker, to welcome companies that have recently opened offices in the state.

Honoree companies include Amazon, Fall River; Applied Photophysics, Beverly; Avigilon, Somerville; Olink Bioscience, Watertown; Sunrun, Marlborough; ERD Metal, Avon; Eli Lilly, IBM Watson Health, Philips, and WuXi AppTec, Cambridge; and General Electric, Harmon.ie, and LEGO Education, Boston.

Six airlines also were recognized, for non-stop flights to and from Boston’s Logan International Airport: AeroMexico; El Al Israel Airlines; Norwegian Air Shuttle; Qatar Airways; Scandinavian Airlines; and WestJet Airlines.

The company locations of origin include Canada, Israel, Mexico, Turkey, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, Kansas, New York, Washington, Indiana, Connecticut, and California. Adding 1,600 new jobs to the Commonwealth, the companies represent a wide variety of industries.

MassEcon Chairman Brian Cohen thanked the companies for bringing new jobs and investment to the state. “The companies at this event represent impressive additions to the Commonwealth’s business community,” said Cohen, "and we look forward to their having a productive, successful, and long-standing relationship with the Commonwealth.”

“Massachusetts’ innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, talented workforce and commitment to success has put the Commonwealth on the map as a place for businesses to grow and thrive,” said governor Baker. “As we continue to build partnerships with our communities and the private sector, we welcome these companies from around the nation and the globe and look forward to the opportunity to encourage more businesses to call Massachusetts home, create jobs and bolster our economy.”

“We are so pleased to welcome these companies to Massachusetts, and this event is our way of saying thank you for choosing the Commonwealth,” said MassEcon executive director Susan Houston. “It is also an opportunity for us to connect these companies with the robust network of resources Massachusetts has to offer.”

MassEcon is a private non-profit entity that serves as the state’s private sector partner in promoting Massachusetts as the premier choice for business growth. Launched in 1993 by the Governor’s Council for Growth and Technology, MassEcon promotes Massachusetts by providing information services to companies seeking to expand or relocate to the state. MassEcon’s services include the Site Finder Service, the Research & Information Service, and the Massachusetts Ambassadors program. MassEcon works to ensure that business stays, grows, and thrives in the Commonwealth.
