Framingham, MA SVN | Parsons Commercial Group | Boston has hired Ria McNamara as vice president of retail brokerage.

“Ria is known as a retail powerhouse in the market and we are fortunate to have her join,” said John Parsons, Jr., CEO and managing director of SVN | Parsons Commercial Group | Boston.

Prior to joining the firm, she was the sole owner and broker of Ria K. McNamara Inc. since September of 1997. Her experience in retail real estate started at the Flatley Company in 1987 where she worked on the re-development of Garden City shopping center, Cranston, RI as a leasing representative for the company. She was also a member of the retail team at Hunneman Commercial Brokerage followed by The Dartmouth Co.

McNamara’s main focus is on optimizing the tenant mix in existing shopping centers and identifying new retail development opportunities through her extensive network of contacts. This has led to her success in the market and impressive roster of clients including some of the area’s largest retail landlords.

McNamara’s experience also includes ground-up retail developments in several communities. Locally, she was involved with the Staples and Trader Joe’s Shopping Center in Framingham; the former Borders Books in Shrewsbury; CVS in Shrewsbury, Walgreens in Southborough; and LA Fitness in Natick.

“We are very excited to have Ria as part of our team.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and capabilities from her previous experiences and we feel she will play a key role in our expansion goals,” said Parsons. “We hope to expand our retail services division and are actively searching for candidates to expand the division.” McNamara has represented tenants such as David’s Bridal, Michael’s Crafts, Vin Bin, Newbury Comics, Liberty Travel, New England Dental Group, Especially For Pets, Staples, and Big Y Supermarkets.

She has been an active member of ICSC since 1987, a LEED Green Associate since 2011 and a CoStar Power Broker in 2012, 2013 and 2014. McNamara is a licensed broker in Massachusetts as well as Rhode Island.
