MetLife and Norges Bank begin work on new lobby at One Beacon

Boston, MA Construction is underway on an enhanced lobby at One Beacon St. Owned by MetLife Investment Management and Norges Bank Real Estate Management, the property is undergoing a full lobby renovation that will consist of a complete redesign and an extension of the front of the building out towards Beacon St. The project, which is expected to last 12 months, will include contemporary finishes highlighted by new modern floors, walls, elevator lobbies, light fixtures, and elevator cab finishes, as well as a resurfacing of the property’s exterior steps and stone.

One Beacon St. is LEED Platinum certified and offers one million s/f of first class office space, including low-rise space with high-rise views given its position atop Beacon Hill. The property’s strong amenities package includes: the UMass Club, Boston Sports Club, on-site food and beverage, secure bike storage, underground parking, 24-hour security and a full-service bank. The building is home to blue chip tenants including JP Morgan Chase Bank and Northwest Mutual.

JLL’s leasing team includes Patrick Nugent, Bill Barrack, Brad McGill, Molly Heath, and Bryan Sparkes. Alongside JLL, others on the project include architect Gensler, general contractor Gilbane, and construction manager CBRE.

“With JLL’s help, we are seeking to bring a revitalized experience to One Beacon, helping us meet the desires of our existing and new tenants, and keeping the building competitive in an ever-evolving landscape,” said Trina Childs, director, real estate at MetLife.

Nugent said, “We are excited about the heightened energy the new lobby, design and finishes will bring One Beacon St. Tenants today are eager to have a differentiated experience from the moment they walk into their office building. By enhancing the entrance with a new front door, and adding first-class finishes and even meeting space in the lobby, this project will undoubtedly help to further position One Beacon as one of Boston’s premier Class A properties.”

Located in downtown, One Beacon St. stands at the intersection of the Financial District and the Back Bay. This location provides tenants with transportation access. North and South Stations which service the commuter rail are both within six blocks of the property, and the MBTA’s Red, Green, Orange and Blue Lines all converge at nearby stations. In addition, One Beacon offers access to and from Massachusetts’ major highways.
