Milestone reached at Green Airport's terminal project

Last month marked a milestone in the T.F. Green Airport Terminal Improvement Project with the official opening of two new passenger deplaning ramps that will lead arriving passengers from the second floor concourse area down to the first floor baggage claim area and terminal exit. The event was an important step in the $83.5 million project aimed to improve security procedures, enhance concessions, minimize congestion and ease circulation. Terminal improvements will continue through year's end with the relocation of the In-Line Explosive Detection System (EDS) Baggage Handling System from the centrally located lobby to a new area behind the scenes. In the final installment of the project, new restaurants and shops are scheduled to open this winter on both levels and in both pre-security and post-security areas. New dining and shopping options include Starbucks, Borders, Providence Oyster Bar, Johnny Rockets, and Brooks Brothers.
