Mott & Chace arranges $3.4m Warwick, RI sale

Warwick, RI Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty has brokered the sale of 1128 Ives Rd. for $3.4 million. The sellers were represented Judy Chace, broker/co-owner, and Amy Doorley Lucas, sales associate, both of Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty. The buyers were represented by Nicole Hofstetter of RI Real Estate Services.

The property was owned by the family of late senator John Chafee, an American politician who served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, as the 66th governor of R.I., as the secretary of the Navy, and as a U.S. senator. His son, Lincoln Chafee was mayor of Warwick from 1993 to 1999, a U.S. senator from 1999 to 2007, and the 74th governor of R.I. from 2011 to 2015.

A unique dwelling designed by Thomas Handasyd Cabot Jr. of Boston, the home sits on high ground with sweeping views of conservation land of rolling meadows, a salt marsh, and a bending river. Set atop a slope to maximize the scenery, the home features six bedrooms, three bathrooms and just over 2,000 s/f of living space. Also on the property, a gambrel-roofed barn topped by a charming cupola and four horse stalls below.

“I am thrilled to assist this wonderful family in the selling of this amazing property” said Chace “Its location on the water combined with the acreage makes it very unique.

“This location is the perfect blend of town and country” said Doorley-Lucas. “I hope the new stewards of this home enjoy it as much as the Chafee family did.”
