NEDA nominations are due Friday May 2nd

Northeast Economic Developers Association's (NEDA) 2008 member of the year award is given annually to a NEDA member in recognition of contributions made to the economic development profession, to NEDA as an organization, or both, typically over the course of many years of service.   Any NEDA member may nominate any other NEDA member by writing a clear statement of the nominee's qualifications for the award and sending it to NEDA for arrival prior to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2nd.   Effective statements are usually at least one to two pages in length, and should not exceed five (5) pages.  You must describe the specific ways in which the nominee has met the criteria above, contributing significantly to the profession and/or to NEDA as an organization; it is not effective to submit a simple professional resume.   Should I tell the person that I'm nominating them? Probably not.  Obviously, your nomination is meant to honor them, and you may want them to know whether they win or not.  But to the extent possible the names of nominees are held in confidence within the Council of Past Presidents in order to minimize unnecessary disappointment or inappropriate lobbying apart from the nomination statements themselves.  In most years, winners have been taken very pleasantly by surprise.  The final decision is, of course, yours. Where do I send the nomination? Nominations MUST be received at NEDA no later than 4:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2008 By Mail:   1000 Bos 02852-7109 By E-mail:   Use "NEDA MOY Entry" in the Subject Line, and send attached as a pdf or Word document, please, to
