New England SIOR board of directors meet on September 15th to review and plan the fall programs

The New England SIOR board of directors met on Thursday, September 15th for its first meeting of the fall. The board reviewed and planned the fall programs and discussed potential new members. Here is a summary of the officer reports.
* Jim Boudrot, Treasurer's Report. The Chapter treasury is financially very solid and its strength can allow the Chapter to reinvest back into itself with subsidized programming and to recruit new members. Two people are eligible for retirement and only one member is not current.
* Don Mancini and Greg Klemmer, Programs Report. The Chapter held its annual NEWIRE/SIOR joint End of the Summer Reception on September 21st at the Hotel Indigo in Newton. This event was sponsored by Normandy. On October 13th, the Chapter will hold the annual Robert W. Holmes Scholarship Night at the Union Club. Scholarships are awarded to the top up and coming young brokers in our industry so that they can attend an SIOR course. October 20th-22nd is the National Convention in Chicago. A landlord breakfast event is planned for November 9th with Campanelli Co. The event will be held at the Newton Marriott. November 30th is the annual NAIOP/SIOR End of the Year Forecast. Potential speakers for this event were discussed. December 1st will be the Bull N' Beer Reception at Bakeys Pub. The board also scheduled on January 17th, 2012 a Featured Landlord breakfast event at the Newton Marriott and a February 2012 event.
* Bob Cleary/Drew Sigfridson; Admissions/Recruitment Report.A number of younger commercial brokers were discussed as potential SIORs. Mike Garrido is planning to take the October Memphis SIOR course and complete his application as well as David Gilkie. Six other Candidates will hopefully convert into full SIOR designees.
* New Business: Tom Farrelly discussed purchasing a new SIOR banner for the chapter.
