North Shore Pain Management has leased 2,200 s/f of first-class medical office space at 100 Cummings Center. This new practice, started by Drs. Richard Field and Minesh Patel, offers a comprehensive approach to the management of pain, with a special focus on spinal pain.
Jack Simko, the Cummings Center leasing/property manager worked directly with Field.
Previously the director of anesthesiology for plastic surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Field practiced for the past two years at Beverly Hospital.
Patel comes to Beverly after having practiced anesthesia and pain management at several Boston hospitals for the past five years. He established and served as director of the Pain Center at Mount Auburn Hospital and Morton Hospital. Both physicians trained through the Harvard Fellowship Program and are board certified in anesthesia and interventional pain management.
"We have expertise in pain medication and offer state of the art, comprehensive, minimally invasive options for all types of pain," said Field. In addition to spinal pain that travels to the arms and legs, he and Patel frequently treat patients with cancer, complex regional pain syndrome, and head pain.
Field explained that moving this type of care from a hospital site to an office-based environment results in significant cost savings for both patients and insurance companies, as well as a more comfortable setting. He said, "Our idea is to provide cost effective and state of the art pain management in an empathic environment."
When seeking a location for his new practice, Field considered cities all over the country. Ultimately, he was drawn to Beverly's coastal community and cosmopolitan culture, as well as its close proximity to Boston, a major medical hub.
He referred to Cummings Center as "the perfect answer" to his search for a practice locale, as it offers a large, ready-made community of potential clients and complementary businesses. "I'm surrounded by many of my patients' other providers, such as primary care physicians and neurologists," he said.
Field also lauded Cummings' ability to meet the unique requirements of his business, noting, "The space was constructed specifically to our needs for an interventional pain center. They did a great job in a short amount of time."
