According to The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) Jennifer Marrapese has been appointed as executive director. Marrapese had been serving as NESEA's interim executive director since October 2009.
"Jennifer brings a rare combination of assets to this role: a strong strategic sense, a passion for our mission, and an ability to forge strong partnerships, both internally and externally," said Jason Federspiel, chairman of NESEA's board of directors. "We are confident that her leadership will help NESEA continue to pave the way for sustainable energy solutions in both existing buildings and new construction in the Northeast."
Prior to joining NESEA, Marrapese served for more than 10 years in a variety of business settings, most recently as vice president of Regulatory Affairs for Cox Communications. While there, she led the regulatory effort to launch competitive local telephone service in three markets.
She has worked in a variety of nonprofit settings as well, most notably as executive director of Social Venture Partners Rhode Island, where she doubled the base of donors/members in an 18-month period. She earned her BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin, her JD from the University of California, and her MA in Organizational Management and Development from Fielding University. Ms. Marrapese lives in Warwick, RI with her husband and two girls (Chloe, 8, and Isabel, 6), but is looking forward to relocating to Western Mass., where she hopes to retrofit an existing home!
