October Fall Convention to be held in Chicago October 19th - 22nd

September 08, 2011 - Front Section
The annual Fall Convention will be held next month from October 19th - 22nd at the Hyatt Regency, 151 E. Wacker. The hotel is located alongside the Chicago River and within steps of N. Michigan Ave. and the Magnificent Mile.
The Opening General Session will be held on Thursday, October 20th with Jim Reeb from the Institute St. Onge and Bill Strauss of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. In the past few decades, both the U.S. and world economies have experienced the concept of "offshoring" production and labor to countries all over the globe in search of lower cost labor. This experiment has worked for some companies and industries but, as we can recognize today, is not working for others. In this session, the panelists will discuss the repositioning of global corporate expansion and the influx of "onshoring" in the U.S. and the impact on the U.S. and global economies. Both speakers will hold follow-up sessions after the Opening Sessions to go into more detail.
The Saturday Closing Session will feature Ret. Four-Star General Stanley McChrystal. General McChrystal is the former Commander of U.S. and International Forces in Aftghanistan. Few people have as much insight on the current state of military and global affairs as General McChrystal. General McChrystal discusses the new challenges in a globalized world, the proliferation of non-state actors, and the advance of information technology and instantaneous communication. He will share a thorough assessment of U.S. security and what the future will hold.
