NEWiRE president's message: Embarking on the 30th year

New England Women in Real Estate (NEWiRE) is embarking upon its 30th year of promoting the advancement of women in commercial real estate. The commercial real estate industry has changed and grown considerably in 30 years, and women have played a significant role in that growth. Since its creation in 1982, by a small group of women real estate professionals with considerable vision, NEWiRE has been an important force behind the increasing success of women in New England's real estate community. For three decades, NEWiRE has provided a forum for networking and professional development to women in various commercial real estate disciplines throughout the Greater Boston area. Throughout 2011-2012, we will be celebrating this milestone, honoring the outstanding achievements of our members and our leadership over the past 30 years, and looking forward to another 30 years of success and advancement. To kick off the year, we welcome the incoming members of the 2011-2012 Board of Directors and thank them for volunteering their time and expertise to NEWiRE. The success of NEWiRE depends on the hard work and dedication of its members to carry out our mission. We are excited about the energy and enthusiasm that these board members bring to the organization. NEWiRE is celebrating its 30th anniversary at three special events that you won't want to miss: * 30th Anniversary Celebration on October 26th, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Exchange Conference Center on the Boston Fish Pier. Peter Meade, director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority, will be our guest speaker. * A celebratory luncheon program in January. * Annual Achievement Awards Dinner in April at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. NEWiRE is gearing up for another year of outstanding programs and events for our more than 400 members. Prospective members are invited to join! Please visit our website at newire.org for a complete listing of upcoming events. Janet Pirrello is the 2011-2012 president of New England Women in Real Estate (NEWiRE), Boston, Mass.
