As an associate and healthcare team leader, she is involved in all phases of projects from pre-design, through construction administration. Paolino has strong project and design leadership capabilities, especially in primary care, dental, and community health center design. She successfully implements innovative care delivery models, such as the Patient Centered Medical Home and translates how that affects the built healthcare environment.

As a LEED Accredited Professional and with her recently earned credentials of Evidence Based Design (EBD) Accreditation and certification by the National Center for Health Design, Paolino brings an in depth understanding of how to base design decisions on the latest healthcare research to achieve the best possible patient, staff, and operational results.

She is also responsible for the integration of energy conservation and sustainable design principles throughout the design and construction document process.

Paolino led multiple phases of the Providence Community Health Centers Prairie Ave. Medical Campus in Providence, over 10 years that is currently being awarded for Outstanding Smart Growth Project by the Grow Smart RI this year. The campus consists of Prairie Ave. Health Center (LEED Silver Certified), Medical Office Building (Rhody Award for Historic Preservation - RI Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places), and a retail pharmacy serving the patients and community.

One of Paolino’s clients, Nicole Quindazzi, executive director of Thundermist Health Center of South County said “Stephanie was always responsive and delivered exceptional customer service in every way- timely, prompt, professional, etc. Not to mention her tact in dealing with all sorts of requests from various members of the design team. I’ll always remember when I thanked Stephanie for her patience in dealing with endless redesigns and her response was just perfect because she told me that she didn’t mind because she loves design!” Paolino is now designing the Thundermist Health Center facility renovation in Woonsocket. She embraces evidence based design especially as a sponsor architect for Roger Williams University School of Architecture, Environmental Design Research Class where the architecture students produce post occupancy evaluations on the multiple Thundermist Health Center facilities that Stephanie has designed and encorporates the valuable non-bias feedback.

Paolino is a graduate of Iowa State University, where she received her Bachelor of Architecture degree and is a registered architect in the state of Rhode Island. She also educates through presentations at industry conferences and has been a panelist for “Creating Health Stations for Primary Care and Prevention,” Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) Summit Conference.
