Pasersky of Payette to receive AIA's Young Archt. Award

Robert Pasersky, AIA, an associate with Payette, a leading architectural design firm specializing in complex buildings for medical and scientific research, academic teaching, and healthcare, has been selected to receive the 2008 American Institute of Architects' Young Architects Award.  Pasersky is the third architect at Payette in the past six years to receive this prestigious award from the AIA and was nominated by the Boston Society of Architects (BSA).   Young Architects are defined as professionals who have been licensed 10 years or fewer regardless of their age. This award honors individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession early in their careers. The Young Architects Award will be presented to 10 recipients at the AIA 2008 National Convention and Design Exposition in Boston in May. "We are extremely proud of the fact that three of our employees have been recognized as Young Architect of the Year by the AIA," said James Collins, Jr., AIA, LEED AP, president of Payette.  "The firm is deeply committed to the long-term professional development of our staff and we are pleased the AIA recognized Robert's terrific accomplishments." Pasersky joined Payette in 1999 and was named an associate of the firm in 2002.  He has been involved in projects with several of the firm's major clients, including the Penn State University, West Virginia University, and Brandeis University. "Robert was nominated for this award by the BSA board of directors in appreciation of his service to the profession and the world at large," said Richard Fitzgerald, executive director of the BSA.  "In February 2006, for example, after closely following news reports of how 10 churches in rural Alabama were destroyed by arson, Robert volunteered his services to help two congregations get their places of worship rebuilt." Pasersky earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Tulane University where he received the F.W. Lawrence Memorial Medal for design excellence. He earned his Master of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Pasersky has taught advanced studio and served as a thesis advisor at Boston Architectural College since 1998. In 2000, he earned a certificate of achievement from the BSA Young Designers Professional Development Institute.
