President's message; T.F. Moran's annual barbecue

June 30, 2010 - Northern New England

President Arthur Slattery Phoenix Realty Group Bedford, N.H.

Warm weather has finally arrived in New Hampshire and, along with it, the T.F. Moran annual barbeque for CIBOR members and guests. As always, the event was well attended, and as always, rain made its appearance. Our thanks are once again extended to Robert Cruess, PE and Anne Cruess, ASLA for their willingness to host this much anticipated June get together.
An important part of this annual gathering is the announcement of the CIBOR Realtor of the Year and the CIBOR Affiliate of the Year. The designees for this distinguished award were chosen by our members and the list provided the voters with a broad array of individuals who have all distinguished themselves as practitioners as well as volunteers in the commercial brokerage field. However, only two members could be chosen and when the voting was tallied the 2010 winners were:
CIBOR Realtor of the Year: Tom Duffy of Prudential Verani Realty
CIBOR Affiliate of the Year: Bill Jean of Fulcrum Associates, Inc.
Both of these individuals are deserving of this award given their outstanding contribution to our organization.
Tom Duffy has served and continues to serve in many capacities at both CIBOR and NECPE. Tom, a current Director, was our President during a transition period when both staff and office location changes were implemented and CPE challenges surfaced. Tom fell back on his strong management skills and brought about changes that allowed us to move forward and offer greater services to our members. These changes did not come easily and his personal sacrifices were many. Congratulations to Tom for his award and we look forward to him representing CIBOR at the NHAR awards banquet at the fall convention.
Bill Jean continues to be one of our go to members when it comes to affiliate activities.
A active member of our CIBOR board of directors, Bill can be expected to provide his fellow members with insight supported by his vast experience in the world of architecture and commercial development. Green, a term that is beginning to have meaning in New Hampshire is a part of our members' vocabulary as a result of Bill and the Green committee. A strong believer in education, Bill has worked with the education committee to assure that our members are receiving exposure into emerging trends and technologies.
Our thanks to Bill and our congratulations on his well deserved award.
To all those members who offered designees for consideration we extend our thanks. Also, to those members who voted for the two categories, thank you for being part of the process.
Arthur Slattery is owner of The Phoenix Realty Group, Bedford, NH and is president of the NH-CIBOR, Concord, NH.
