Pro Con and RMD on schedule for March completion of Market Basket

Construction is continuing and on schedule for the new 100,000 s/f Market Basket store located at the corner of Elm and West Auburn Sts. RMD Inc. is developing the store for Demoulas Super Markets Inc. and the Market Basket stores. Prellwitz/Chilinski Associates Inc. is the project architect and Pro Con Inc. is the general contractor for the project. "Work is progressing at a rapid pace," said the project manager for Pro Con Inc. "We are currently working on exterior shell of the building which is scheduled to be completed in mid-December and the asphalt binder for the 450 car parking lot is 95% complete. The granite curbing has been installed and the landscaping will be completed before the end of the year." The new Market Basket store is located on a 10.7-acre site that was formerly home to Rockwell Automation Inc.'s Allen Bradley Plant. As part of the extensive renovation project, Pro Con demolished a portion of the structure including exterior walls and the existing concrete slab. Pro Con recycled 95% of the demolished construction waste material from the former building, diverting tons of debris from the landfills. Pro Con began the demolition work in March 2011 and has scheduled an end of March 2012 completion date for the new store.
