The exterior metal siding is being installed on a new 84,000 s/f hangar and aviation facility being built for Alpha Flying, Inc. (AFI) and Atlas Pilatus Center, Inc. (APC) at Pease International Airport. The 40,000 s/f hangar and adjoining 44,000 s/f office and support spaces are part of a aviation facility located at 115 Flight Line Rd. which will house the main offices and maintenance facilities of AFI and APC. Pro Con Inc. is the architect and the construction manager for the $13 million project.
"The building's exterior metal siding is currently being installed, along with the exterior metal studs, sheathing and weatherproofing," according to the Pro Con Inc. project manager. "The extensive lobby curtain wall and the office windows are currently being installed, and interior painting is on-going on the structural steel in the aircraft hanger." Pro Con is on schedule for an October completion date for the new AFI/APC facility.
The architects at Pro Con designed the AFI/APC facility to service a full spectrum of general aviation uses including aircraft storage, maintenance, repair and technical support. The 40,000 s/f hangar will have two hangar doors each measuring 130-foot wide x 28-foot high to accommodate most models of corporate aircraft.
The aircraft hangar will be equipped with under slab heating. This system will ensure a comfortable work environment for the APC team and provide effective, energy-efficient heating during the winter months. An aircraft hangar fire suppression system will ensure the highest degree of safety.
The design of the aviation facility also incorporates a 2-story, 2,500 s/f lounge area.
This is one of several aviation facility projects Pro Con, Inc. has managed in recent years. Others include; the Wiggins Airways passenger terminal & hanger and fuel farm at the Manchester/Boston Regional Airport in N.H. and the Jet Aviation hanger at Hanscom Field in Mass.
