New Haven, CT The Professional Women in Construction Connecticut Chapter (PWC CT) has awarded four women with professional achievement awards for their outstanding contributions to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (A/E/C) industry. The program “Building Boldly: Honoring Women Leading Change in Construction” attracted a crowd of attendees who gathered to celebrate the award winners and hear from a panel of AEC women.

With more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Federico is respected for her leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to advancing others. She has built a career centered on collaboration, mentorship, and excellence in construction advisory services, including schedule analysis, dispute resolution, and expert testimony. A recognized leader both within her firm and across the industry, Federico actively supports initiatives that elevate women in construction and serves as a role model for the next generation of professionals. Recipients of this award have at least 15 years of experience in the industry, have achieved excellence in their field, are dedicated to the advancement of women in the A/E/C field, and serve as a good role model.

Amy Albandoz Jimenez, project designer at Pirie Associates Architects, proudly accepted this year’s Rising Star Award. Her leadership, authenticity, and passion for empowering others have made a lasting impact on both her mentees and the broader PWC community.

Crystal Gelinas, marketing professional at KBE Building Corporation, was honored as Volunteer of the Year for her exceptional dedication and service to the Chapter. Gelinas has played an active role on both the Communications and Next-Gen Committees, contributing her marketing expertise to elevate PWC CT’s visibility and engagement. She is known for her willingness to step up, take initiative, and support both chapter activities and broader community efforts. Her leadership in organizing charitable initiatives and her consistent commitment to volunteerism embody the spirit of this award and the mission of PWC CT.

The program also featured keynote speaker Kaitlin McCarthy, founder and CEO of Ionic Development Company and co-founder of ARX, who shared insights from her professional journey and the experiences that led her to innovate within both real estate development and construction safety. Her work in developing PPE specifically designed for women highlights the importance of inclusivity, safety, and forward-thinking solutions in the industry.
