What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2016?

During 2016, I led the effort at United Steel to increase our use of technology to better leverage important productivity and business management tools available on the market today.  Over this past year, we implemented Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) which we leveraged to help improve our processes and increase our profitability.  I consider this a significant professional accomplishment because we are now better able to stay focused on our overall goal of excellence while we grow as a business.

What was your most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2016?

In December of 2016, United Steel was awarded the SONO Collection complex in Norwalk, Conn.  This modern mixed-use project includes upscale retail, entertainment, hotel, residential and office space – conveniently located along I-95 and Highway 7 in Fairfield County.  United Steel will also complete steel and metal work for the stylish and sophisticate façade of this urban development.  The Collection is United Steel’s largest contract in our 42-year history and is expected to open in early 2018. The SONO Collection is poised to become a landmark destination for the entire region.

What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2017?

We have a very optimistic outlook for 2017. We have a moderate production schedule for the first quarter and have a record number of bids out right now as the overall construction industry continues to improve in the region.

We continue to expand our services to clients including aluminum and stainless steel production in our Clean Room. Things are moving in a positive direction and we are ready for increases across the board.
