Realtors Commercial Alliance of Mass. president’s message - by Barb Davis Hassan

Barb Davis-Hassan, CCIM, is the 2016 president of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of MA, Auburn Mass. Barbara Davis-Hassan, RCA-Mass.

The Realtors Commercial Alliance of Massachusetts (RCA-MA) is a professional organization of individuals who are commercial real estate practitioners. Any of the 22,000 Mass. Association of Realtors (MAR)members can join the RCA-MA as a secondary member for $250/year or as a primary member at $556 year with these rates prorated depending on the month you join.

The RCA-MA has regular networking events throughout the entire state to help members promote their properties and to locate properties for their buyer/lessee clients. Because commercial real estate is not as local as residential real estate, it is vital to network with other commercial professionals for exposure for your listings and buyer/lessee needs.

The RCA-MA also offers several free continuing education courses throughout the year at different locations throughout the state. The RCA-MA offers three times a year a special class entitled, “Discovering Commercial Real Estate” a six hour comprehensive course designed to explain this important side of the business and introduce many of the concepts, tools and other resources needed to pursue a commercial transaction or a career in commercial real estate.

The RCA-MA partners with the MassCIE MLS, a web based commercial information exchange powered by Catylist, to market your listings nationwide. You receive regular commercial real estate updates from the National Association of Realtor’s (NAR) Commercial Alliance. Representatives on RCA-MA’s board of directors regularly attend MAR government affairs meetings and board of directors meetings to keep the membership up to date on items of interest related to our businesses.

During 2016 we saw our membership grow by over 22% as more members become aware of who we are and what we have to offer. Realtor members no longer have to have their broker join as a prerequisite to join.

If interested in joining the RCA-MA and/or serving on its board of directors please contact Colleen Pappas, executive vice president, at cpappas@rcama.org or at 1-508-832-6600.
