Safety Roundtable to focus on mast climbing hazards

September 18, 2007 - Construction Design & Engineering
On Sept. 25, ASM's safety committee will host a presentation on the hazards associated with the use of mast climbing work platforms in the construction industry. The use of mast climbers has grown significantly in recent years, along with worker injuries associated with incorrect assembly, dismantling, use and maintenance. To reduce these hazards, OSHA's regional offices in Braintree and Methuen have launched a "Local Emphasis Program" (LEP) that combines educational outreach with targeted worksite inspections.
At the Sept. 25 Roundtable, OSHA will review the safety requirements for mast-climbing platforms as well as for users and trainers. They will also explain how the LEP works and what they look for during an inspection.

The Roundtable takes place 10 a.m. to noon at Eastern Insurance, Natick, and is open to anyone with responsibility for safety on the job site.
Call ASM to register.
