Boston, MA Copley Wolff Design Group, Inc. (CWDG) was represented by Sean Sanger, ASLA, LEED AP, principal, in a panel discussion at the 2015 ASLA annual meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago. Sanger joined the discussion titled, "Accessible Design as Good Design: A Conversation from the Field", where he presented an overview of design projects that are welcoming and inclusive to all users. Specifically, Sanger spoke to CWDG's Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital project in Charlestown, Mass., which implemented numerous accessibility features including a Therapy Trail, a public "Harbor Walk", oversized curb ramps, and grading relative to rising sea levels. Sanger was joined by Josh Safdie, Assoc, AIA, Kessler McGuinness & Associates, Stuart Seaborn, Esq., Disability Rights Advocates, and Barbara Knecht, RA, Strategies for Cities. "At CWDG, it is very important to our team that all people can interact with, and enjoy, the environments that we create," said Sanger. "We have been involved in a number of accessible design projects, and the quality has never suffered through this type of work. It was crucial at this panel that we conveyed that accessible design is feasible and hope that our success stories will serve as a leading example for other firms." The 2015 ASLA Annual Meeting was a four-day, educational experience and exposition highlighting new products, services, technology applications, and design solutions in the architecture and design industry.
