The National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) has certified Neilie Sequeira, a multi-site property manager at Peabody Properties, Inc., as a National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP).
NAHMA's NAHP certification is the only professional program with stringent requirements dedicated solely to recognizing and promoting achievement in affordable housing management. In order to receive certification, applicants must have a minimum of two years of affordable housing management experience, complete educational course work in the fields of occupancy, fair housing and basic apartment management and adhere to the NAHP Code of Professional Conduct.
According to Peabody Props. principal and COO, Melissa Fish-Crane, receiving NAHMA's NAHP certification is considered an accomplishment in the real estate community. "Since joining Peabody Properties, Neilie has demonstrated her expertise in managing multiple affordable housing properties," said Fish-Crane. "The National Affordable Housing Professional certification is a well-deserved recognition. We're thrilled for Neilie and proud that she is part of the Peabody Properties team."
Sequeira began her career in real estate in 1999, as a property manager and leasing consultant at Grove Properties in East Providence, R.I. In 2010, Sequeira joined Peabody Properties as a property manager for The Hayes at Railroad Square in Haverhill, Mass. Currently, Sequeira is responsible for an affordable housing portfolio comprised of four Massachusetts properties. Sequira manages and oversees all on-site staff members, property operations and maintenance and client relationships at Merrimack Valley Apartments in Methuen, Stony Brook Apartments in Westford and Broadway Street Apartments and Worthen Street Apartments, both in Lowell.
Since joining the Peabody Props. team, Sequeira has been named a Certified Credit Compliance Professional (C3P) through The Spectrum Companies, an Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and a Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM) and a Fair Housing Coordinator (FHC) with NAHMA. Additionally, Sequeria currently serves as the ARM Admissions Contact for IREM's Boston Chapter and is a Certified Property Manager (CPM) candidate for IREM.
