Shanahan retires from the Maine Real Estate & Development Association board of directors

Portland, ME According to the Maine Real Estate & Development Association (MEREDA), William Shanahan of Scarborough has retired from its board of directors after 16 years of service.

In addition to serving on the board and its executive committee, Shanahan served as treasurer for 15 years, and assistant treasurer for one year. He was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award in 2009, was one of two recipients of the President’s Award presented in 2010, and received the Founder’s Award in 2016 for his instrumental role in the organization.

“Bill’s never-ending support of MEREDA over the years has helped the organization thrive,” said Shelly Clark, MEREDA’s vice president of operations. “Bill’s guidance in the financial life of the organization has left us well-positioned going forward. We appreciate Bill for the extraordinary amount of time and commitment that he dedicated to MEREDA, as well as for being a valued liaison between MEREDA and the affordable housing community.”

Shanahan is president of Northern New England Housing Investment Fund, a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that promotes housing and community development by providing equity capital, technical assistance and consulting to affordable housing developers throughout Maine and New Hampshire.
