Mass.' new Sick Leave Law, the most generous in the nation, took effect July 1. It represents a sea change for construction employers, who traditionally have not offered sick leave. Over the past several months, ASM worked collaboratively with industry colleagues to propose changes in regulations to address employer concerns, and pleased to see many recommendations incorporated into the Final Regulations - in particular, the clear exclusion of fringe benefits from the hourly wage for sick leave.
ASM will continue to keep members updated as new forms and advisories are issued, and members are encouraged to call ASM with any questions about their obligations under the new law.
