SIOR Conn./Western Mass. Chapter holds fall meeting

The Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Chapter of SIOR recently held its quarterly fall meeting at the Essex Yacht Club. The Chapter would like to thank Zuvic- Carr and Associates Consulting Engineers for sponsoring the event which included dinner.
Guest speakers were Kyle Richard and Joe Milardo, CPAs from Kostin, Ruffkes & Company, who gave presentations on two current issues involving commercial and investment real estate. The first pertained to changes in accounting rules which will require tenants to financially report leases and lease renewal options as a liability on their balance sheet. The second involved updated information concerning 1031 Exchange transactions and meaningful recommendations with these updates in mind.
SIOR lapel pins were presented to 24 Chapter members having at least ten years of service with SIOR. This represents 50% of the current Chapter membership. Legacy pins for 30 or more years of service were presented to Frosty Smith (37 years), Mike DiScala (36 years), Bob Andopoz (32 years), Rick Gretch (31 years), Nick Morizio (31 years), and Kevin Geenty (30 years).
