The Old Saybrook Medical Center - Old Saybrook, CT

On June 1st, Yale-New Haven Hospital officially opened its new outpatient medical center in Old Saybrook, a 24,500 s/f renovation project designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM). The Old Saybrook Medical Center is now able to offer a broad array of clinical services including pediatric specialty services, a comprehensive Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center, musculoskeletal services, urology and vascular services, blood draw, medical imaging, allergy/Immunology, physical therapy, rheumatology, X-ray services, ultrasounds and specialty healthcare services for adults and children.
Yale-New Haven Hospital offers access to skilled specialists and advanced healthcare treatments closer to home with 289 services in 131 different locations across 24 different Conn. towns and cities. Located from I-95 and Rte. 9, the new multi-disciplinary outpatient facility is complete with the latest technology and amenities offering convenient access to skilled specialists and advanced healthcare treatments for Middlesex and New London County area residents.
"With the patient experience as our priority, the project challenges the traditional outpatient setting and opts to create a more streamlined, consistent, and ultimately, a more pleasant experience for both patients and staff," said Doug Mayne, AIA, SLAM project designer. "The project explores several new ideas such as: central check-in and registration; integrated imaging and procedure space; modular exam rooms; collaborative work areas for staff; and is intended to serve as a prototype for future outpatient efforts within the YNHH system."
