S/L/A/M Construction Services receives DBIA New England award

January 15, 2016 - Connecticut

Kent, CT S/L/A/M Construction Services (SLAM CS) was honored with a 2015 Merit Award for Building Construction from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) New England Region for its work on the Music Department and Mattison Auditorium at Kent School. This is the team’s third award for this project. Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut (ABC) honored the team last year with an Excellence in Construction Best in Show Award and the Connecticut Building Congress (CBC) presented the team with the 1st place award in the Small Projects division of their Project/Team Awards.

“This is our 12th project at Kent School using the design-build delivery method,” said Eugene Torone, president of S/L/A/M Construction Services, who accepted the award for the SLAM project team. “Our success in consistently delivering high expectations and value without sacrificing quality throughout all 12 projects across the Kent School campus serves as a testament to the design-build delivery method.”

This $6.3 million renovation, which was designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative and built by S/L/A/M Construction Services, included expanding the stage area, opening the existing ceiling to the truss work and upgrades to the walls, floors and seating in the house.
