Studio G Architects recognized with CREW Boston Achievement Award for Franklin Cummings Tech

Boston, MA Studio G Architects, received recognition at 2026 Achievement Award from CREW Boston for its role in designing the new campus for Franklin Cummings Tech in Nubian Sq. CREW Boston is the region’s leading professional organization promoting the advancement of women within the commercial real estate industry. This award recognizes projects and women leaders that demonstrate innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact across Greater Boston’s commercial real estate industry.

Opening this winter after more than six years of planning and development, the 68,000 s/f, three-story campus provides a modern learning environment for hands-on technical education and workforce training. Located near public transportation and local employment hubs, the facility represents a major investment in both students and the surrounding community. Designed with flexibility, durability, and sustainability in mind, the building incorporates passive design strategies, all-electric HVAC systems, and climate-resilient infrastructure, and is targeting LEED Gold certification. A rooftop learning environment with outdoor laboratories and collaborative spaces reinforces its role as a teaching tool and innovation hub.

Submitted jointly by CREW Boston members Gail Sullivan and Marty Jones, the project is notable for its innovative development approach, creative financing, and the prominent role of women across the project team. Sullivan, founder and managing principal at Studio G Architects, led the project with a commitment to mission-driven, community-centered, and equitable design. She guided site selection, community engagement, and permitting, while championing sustainability, educational excellence, and the project’s transformative impact on Nubian Sq. A long-standing CREW Boston member, Sullivan intentionally expanded women-owned participation by bringing fellow CREW member Natasha Espada and her M/WBE firm, Studio ENÉE Architects, into the team, exemplifying the CREW network effect and ensuring the project reflected both the college’s mission and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“Projects like this show how collaboration and representation in leadership expand opportunities and create lasting community impact,” said Gail Sullivan. “It’s a powerful, real-world example of the CREW network in action.”

Women played key roles across development, architecture, engineering, financing, permitting, and construction, with CREW members helping activate opportunities for more than 50 women involved throughout the process. Additional CREW members recognized for this award include Ashley Brown, Shauna Gillies-Smith, Melissa Restrepo, and Cindy Schlessinger. The 2026 CREW Boston Achievement Awards recognizing this work will be celebrated on April 29th at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston.
