Suffolk Construction awarded a design-build project for U.S. Department of the Navy - $8 million contract

Suffolk Construction Company, Inc., was recently awarded a federal government design-build project for the Navy, an $8 million contract for a new Waterfront Operations Small Craft Facility at the Naval Submarine Base New London. Suffolk is partnering with AECOM to construct the 13,498 s/f facility, which will consolidate port operations activities into one central building. The facility will include administrative space, classrooms, two high bays for boat maintenance and a painting booth. "We are very excited and honored that the U.S. Department of the Navy selected Suffolk as the design-build contractor on this important project," said John Fish, CEO, Suffolk Construction. "We are confident that our knowledgeable project team and proven processes will result in a seamless construction management process and open more opportunities to work with clients in the federal government sector." The Waterfront Operations Small Craft Facility is the third project that Suffolk has won on the Submarine Base New London. The company previously managed a renovation and expansion to the base's ambulatory care center and provided construction management services for 100 replacement housing units at Polaris Park. Construction on the Waterfront Operations Small Craft Facility is scheduled to begin in February 2010 and will be completed in March 2011.
