Sullivan Construction celebrates
milestone at Market and Main

October 04, 2024 - Northern New England

Bedford, NH Sullivan Construction has reached a major milestone at the Market and Main retail center with the “topping off” ceremony for Building D. The final beam was signed and raised into place, marking the structural completion of the 37,135 s/f building.

In attendance were representatives from the town of Bedford, Stack + Co., Summit Engineering, TFMoran, and others. All applauded in celebration as workers from SL Chasse Steel lowered and secured the final beam into place, celebrating this important achievement in the construction of the mixed-use retail center.

Sullivan Construction superintendent, Ken Beers, educated the crowd on the additions to the 725 lb. beam; an American flag and a fir tree placed on opposing ends. “The fir tree is an ancient Nordic ritual, and it signifies a couple things, first and most important, an accident-free construction site. At Sullivan Construction, we take safety very seriously and that is what I am most proud of here,” said Beers who oversees the project that earned a 100% review in last week’s safety inspection. “The second,” Beers said, “is said to bring life to a project upon completion.”

Owner and developer, Encore Enterprises, selected Sullivan Construction as the construction manager for five buildings in the Market and Main retail center, ranging from 5,200 to 37,000 s/f. The buildings, designed by Stack + Co., feature high-end finishes and blend with the existing park design.

“The topping off of Building D signifies an achievement for both the project team and the Bedford community. This development will not only elevate the retail landscape but also provide a welcoming space for businesses and residents alike,” said Tom Sullivan Sr., president of Sullivan Construction. “We’re proud to be working alongside our partners to bring this vision to life, and we’re excited to continue to see Market and Main take shape.”

With Building D now structurally complete, work will continue on the exterior shell, while the construction of two additional buildings continues to progress, all contributing to the vibrant development of the Bedford community.
