Super Lawyers names four Robinson & Cole partners to Top 50 list: Cavanaugh, Merriam, Phillips and Morkan

According to Robinson & Cole LLP, Super Lawyers (Super Lawyers is a registered trademark of Key Professional Media, Inc.) has named four partners from the Hartford office to its 2011 list of the top lawyers in Connecticut. Land law lawyers Dennis Cavanaugh, Dwight Merriam, and Earl Phillips, Jr. and litigation lawyer Linda Morkan received the honor.
Dennis Cavanaugh, chair of the firm's Construction Law Practice Group, focuses on construction law and contract suretyship matters. Cavanaugh counsels public and private building owners, tenants, lenders, building contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, and sureties. His capabilities span a period of over 25 years in his handling of complex transactions.
Dwight Merriam represents developers, local governments, landowners, and advocacy groups in land development and conservation issues. He has published over 200 professional articles and 6 books on land use law. Merriam is chair of the American Bar Association's Section of State and Local Government Law.
Earl Phillips, Jr. has practiced environmental law and worked on related utilities projects for more than 30 years. He has chaired the firm's Environmental and Utilities Practice Group since 1987. His practice includes environmental compliance counseling and risk management, transactional counseling, brownfield development, project and utility (energy and water) permitting, crisis management preparation and response, environmental defense, and cost recovery.
Linda Morkan maintains a litigation practice dedicated to appellate advocacy. She is chair of the firm's Appellate Group and, since joining Robinson & Cole, has been involved in more than 135 appeals before the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts, the Rhode Island Supreme Court, the Appeals Court of Massachusetts, the New York Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
