Supermarkets of Cherry Hill Inc. earns Energy Star rating for ShopRite

Supermarkets of Cherry Hill, Inc. has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Energy Star rating for their ShopRite. The Energy Star is the national symbol for protecting the environment through superior energy performance. The ShopRite joins more than 3,000 Energy Star buildings nationwide that are committed to reducing their impact on the environment by reducing the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. Some of the energy-saving technology used by the ShopRite includes the use of a high efficient refrigeration system, energy-saving HVAC systems and refrigerated store cases with energy-saving lamps and lighting systems. The store's lighting consists mostly of Pulse Start HID and T8 fluorescent systems. In addition, Energy Star qualified equipment is used in the store to further reduce energy consumption. "We at the ShopRite of Marlton are so honored to accept EPA's Energy Star in recognition of our energy efficiency efforts," said Shawn Ravitz, vice president of administration for Supermarkets of Cherry Hill, Inc. "This achievement helps us get on the right path to what we hope in the future will lead us to additional opportunities to reduce our impact on the environment," stated Ravitz. By earning the Energy Star, the store is using about 35% less energy than average buildings, while still providing quality service and comfort to customers.
