The Conn./Western Mass. SIOR Chapter elects new officers

The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts SIOR Chapter recently held its fall quarterly meeting at the Essex Yacht Club on September 16. A regular business meeting was held, followed by dinner. Keith Kumnick, SIOR was acknowledged for his service as president of the Chapter over the past two years. A slate of new Chapter officers were elected by the members in attendance for 2-year terms commencing October 1.

Mark Duclos, SIOR has been elected president of the Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Duclos has over 24 years experience in the commercial real estate industry, beginning with positions at Culbro Land Resources (now known as Griffin Land), The Farley Company and Hart Corp. Duclos co-founded Sentry Commercial in 1991 and is presently its managing director. He, along with his partner, Sherri Thompson, SIOR, heads Sentry Commercial's Corporate Services Group.

Bruce Wettenstein, SIOR has been elected vice president of the Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). He entered the commercial real estate business in 1977 when he joined the Norwalk based commercial real estate firm, DiScala Associates. In 1989 he left the firm which had become a Grubb & Ellis Company, and became director of marketing for the Stratford Development Company, a real estate development firm. In 1993 Wettenstein joined Randy Vidal at Vidal, Inc. in Westport, and in 1996 he became a partner with the firm.

Frank Hird, SIOR has been elected secretary/treasurer. Hird is a licensed real estate broker with over 20 years of experience selling and leasing commercial real estate including major industrial and office properties, tenant representation agreements for large corporate tenants, new construction development and lab space requirements for existing and start-up bio-science companies. He is a vice president at O,R&L Commercial in Branford.
