The program committee is busy putting together events for 2014

November 14, 2013 - Connecticut

The fishing tournament that was held in early September was a great event. Because of the companies that sponsored the boats and those who attended the clambake following the tournament, Southern CT BOMA was able to donate to the Wooded Warrior Foundation. Many thanks to our members for their continued support and generosity.
On November 20th, we will host a luncheon program on C-PACE, the low-cost tax lien financing for building upgrades. This program is a statewide program administered by the Clean Energy Finance Investment Authority (CEFIA) and allows building owners access to low-cost financing from private sources for building upgrades that are permanently affixed to the property which either reduce energy consumption or creates energy from renewable sources. After only 10 months, Connecticut's clean energy financing program for commercial buildings is among the largest in the nation. Since the program's launch in January, nearly 20 building owners across the state have received $15 million in funding to finance building energy improvements. The only state to finance more is California, though its programs are much older. Only two PACE programs are still within the same size of Connecticut's program, according to PACENow data. California's Sonoma County program has financed roughly $10.7 million through 60 projects. The program in Toledo, Ohio has financed $11.7 million through 51 projects. All property owners and their accountants should attend this very informative program. Thanks to EMCOR/New England Mechanical for sponsoring this event.
On December 12th Southern CT BOMA will host their annual holiday party at Innis Arden Country Club in Old Greenwich. This year, the theme will be "Black & White" and all are asked to dress accordingly. Thanks to our event sponsor, Hoffmann Architects, and our other sponsors: Affineco (United Services, Melillo, and PMI), The Brickman Group, and City Carting. This event promises to be a night of great food and networking.
The program committee is busy putting together programs for 2014. Join now and your dues will cover the remaining months of 2013 and all of 2014. You will be able to register for upcoming events at the member rate, a substantial savings over the non-member rate.
2013 members received their dues invoices in early October, along with a 2014 sponsorship form. I encourage all members to renew and choose a sponsorship and to forward that information onto others they feel would benefit by belonging to Southern CT BOMA.
Debbie Korf, president of Southern Connecticut BOMA, is with Cartus, Danbury, Conn.
