Thru the Lens: Callahan Construction served 130 women and children at Rosie’s Place

Boston, MA On Friday, February 22, the team at Callahan Construction served 130 women and children at Rosie’s Place. As a family-owned company in the metropolitan Boston area, Callahan employees understand the importance of giving back to the local community. Visits to organizations such as Rosie’s Place are part of Callahan’s Constructing Communities program, where the company engages in community outreach efforts, hires local subcontractors and purchases local goods in an effort to employ and support the communities where it works. This sense of corporate responsibility is one of the many reasons Callahan was named a “Top Work Place” by the Boston Globe in 2018.

Callahan and Rosie’s Place have a longstanding partnership, with Callahan employees assisting Rosie’s Place for the past four years. Quarterly, Callahan volunteers visit Rosie’s Place and participate in meal preparations and service. While there, they look to engage the women and children who visit Rosie’s Place in positive discussions about the community.

“We understand that in building relationships in the communities in which we work and live, we have the opportunity to learn about how to best serve the Boston area moving forward,” said Patrick Callahan, President of Callahan Construction. “Volunteering at Rosie’s Place and other organizations within the Boston community remind us of our corporate responsibility to our city.”

Founded in 1974, Rosie’s Place was the first women’s shelter in the United States. The organization provides meals, shelter and wide-ranging support from housing to education services. Rosie’s Place looks to maintain the dignity of women in the Boston area by providing a safe, nurturing environment that helps women find security and seek opportunity in their lives.
