Brockton, MA ECOlogic, a commercial carpet and textile cleaning and restoration expert delivering the latest technology to provide the highest quality care solutions available, has purchased and assembled 79 bikes as well as helmets for local children with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs. ECOlogic cleaned more than 7,000 chairs during milliCare’s Month of Care CHAIRity event in August of 2016, raising the funds to purchase bikes and helmets for the 2017 Bike Build event.
The bikes will be donated to Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. (BAMSI) a private, non-profit human services organization providing services to adults and children with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and behavioral health challenges, as well as an array of public health programs in 130 program locations across the Commonwealth. On Friday, May 19, ECOlogic donated bikes to graduates of BAMSI’s Brockton After School Enrichment (BASE) program, an after-school curriculum in East Bridgewater, Mass. designed to meet the behavioral and emotional needs of children ages 6-12 who are unable to succeed in non-therapeutic community programs. The graduation celebrates students who have acquired appropriate socialization and conflict resolution skills, as well as anger management techniques and are now deemed ready to transition to a less restrictive after-school environment. The graduation included a commencement, dance party, and pizza. All eight graduates received a bike from ECOlogic. The remainder of bikes were donated to BAMSI on June 22 at their Children, Family and Community Services Summer Kick-Off.

ECOlogic purchased the bikes from Together We Rise, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of America’s foster children. The bikes were assembled on Tuesday, May 16 during the Second Annual Bike Build at ECOlogic’s headquarters, with 21 employees donating their time.
