The Dimock Center, 41 Dimock Street, Boston The Dimock Center, 41 Dimock Street, Boston

Boston, MA The Dimock Center, 41 Dimock St., will break ground in late spring on a renovation project to restore its aging detoxification facility and strengthen its comprehensive substance abuse services. The community health center houses one of only two inpatient detox facilities in Boston and one of 29 in the state, offering substance use treatment for men and women throughout the Commonwealth. The renovation will increase its inpatient acute treatment beds from 30 to 40, reaching an additional 1,000 people annually, for a total of 4,000 patients served each year.

The contract for preconstruction and construction services for the project was awarded to Timberline Construction. The new detox facility, designed by Platt Anderson Freeman Architects, will create an environment of staff and patient respect and facilitate enhanced patient-centered care. The project will serve to attract and retain expert treatment providers and will stand as a leading example for future treatment facilities. The interior renovations will create new program areas, including residential double occupancy units, a permanent increase to 40 inpatient beds, open nurses’ stations, integrated case management offices, multipurpose community rooms, integrated security and an outpatient treatment area.

Scope of work for the project includes major renovations and repairs to the structural floor system, mechanical systems, sprinkler and fire alarm systems, as well as repairs to the historic building envelop.
