Jack Conway Realtors Bridgewater agent Mike Travers was selected by the Tri-County Board of Realtors as its Realtor of the Year for 2008. Realtor of the Year is the highest honor the board bestows upon one of its members.
"I am just honored and thrilled," said Travers, a longtime resident of East Bridgewater and the former president of the Tri-County Board. "This is an excellent organization, and Conway is a great company. I am proud to serve both, and I enjoy doing it."
The award is presented annually to a Realtor, nominated by his peers, then selected by the Realtor of the Year committee, which is an impartial panel made up of past Realtors of the Year. The committee takes into consideration the member's involvement in civic affairs and participation in local, state and national committees. They also consider the member's spirit and business accomplishments.
And when it comes to involvement, Travers has the credentials. He has held numerous positions with the Tri-County Board, and served as the Mass. Association of Realtors regional vice president and on its executive committee.
For years he has worked with the American Red Cross, as their community liaison to East Bridgewater, and sits on the board of the Kiwanis. He is also a member of the town's Community Response Team, and its business association.
"The type of work Mike does is vital in the community," said company Chairman Jack Conway. "It's that kind of reaching out and extending the helping hand, which truly exemplifies community involvement."
Travers came to Conway in 1999, after more than 20 years as a home improvement contractor, and combines that experience with his commitment to the ethics he supports in his work with the association.
"My knowledge of contracting, and the personal need I have for continuing education gives me the opportunity to offer customers the best and most useful skills and knowledge," said Travers. "I also hold myself to the highest level of ethical standards and hold others to that standard when representing my clients."
