Water Treatment Facility

Trumbull-Nelson was recently awarded the Vergennes Panton Water District - No. 1 Water Treatment Facility improvements project contract for $4.1 million. Trumbull-Nelson will be working with Otter Creek Engineering to oversee the projects completion.
The Vergennes-Panton water facility project will allow the plant to take surface water from Lake Champlain, process, filter it, and then provide safe, clean, drinkable, excellent water for its customers located in Vergennes and Panton. When the upgrade of facility is complete, the water plant will be able to treat up to 1 million gallons of water daily and prepare the facility's soundness for the next 30 to 40 years.
Representing Trumbull-Nelson on-site will be superintendent Christian Ufford and project manager Anthony Instasi. Trumbull-Nelson, together with Otter Creek Engineering, has set a schedule for completing the upgrade of the entire facility. The upgrade is expected to begin this month and be completed mid-summer of 2012.
Instasi credits Trumbull-Nelson's recent expansion of its portfolio into utilities, and their commitment to northern New England and its communities' quality of life, as one of the reasons Trumbull Nelson was awarded the contract for the Vergennes-Panton Water District No. 1 improvements.
The project is a result of the Vergennes Panton Water District's Board (located on Adams Ferry Rd. in Panton) requesting bids to study and evaluate the state of the 39-year-old -facility. The board accepted an evaluation and proposal from Otter Creek Engineering. Their concerns were not unfounded. Not wanting to leap ahead, the board waited to see what was available in grants to fund the project. The contract is being funded by the USDA-Rural Development and the state of Vermont/US EPA Revolving Loan fund.
When the upgrade received its funding though, Trumbull-Nelson was invited to bid for the contract and is now preparing to get the project off the ground along with Otter Creek Engineering.
