Viking Construction has broken ground on three major construction projects in Connecticut totaling $10 million. Viking is serving as general contractor on all projects which include the renovation of an historic Mechanics and Farmers Bank building in Bridgeport, the Fairchild housing project in Fairfield and an affordable housing project in Sharon.
The Mechanics and Farmers Bank project will involve the restoration of the existing historic structure for a single tenant, as well as the construction of 30 affordable apartment units above. This project is expected to be completed in February of 2014.
The Fairchild project, which is owned by Garden Homes Management of Stamford, is a new 31,000 s/f, three-story building that will include 55 apartments. Viking installed 86 piles to support the foundation, and is building a permeable parking lot on the site. This $3.8 million project will be complete in April of 2014.
The Sharon housing project will consist of three buildings that will house four apartments each, totaling 12,000 s/f of living space. The $3.2 million project, which is also expected to be complete in February of 2014, will include the installation of geothermal wells for heating and cooling.
