Quincy, MA According to West of Chestnut, over 50% of its new apartments are pre-leased and residents began moving into the newly completed second building in Quincy Center’s Hancock District on September 1.

West of Chestnut features 169 residential units in downtown, steps from the MBTA’s Quincy Center station on the Red Line. As of August 29, 58% of the apartments are leased and both buildings opened to residents on September 1. The studio, one- and two-bedroom units in two six-story urban midrise buildings will also offer two highly-acclaimed restaurants, a fitness studio, and a café/bakery.

“Living at West of Chestnut gives residents the best of the Boston area’s dynamic amenities, nightlife and dining without the high prices,” said Kyle Warwick, a principal of Gate Residential – the project’s developer. “This is an exciting time for us and the City of Quincy as we welcome new residents and celebrate another important milestone in the transformation of downtown Quincy.”

Renowned Japanese fusion restaurant Fuji, South Shore burger favorite KKatie’s Burger Bar, and OrangeTheory Fitness studio will all be opening this fall - key components of Gate Residential’s overall strategy to bring a mix of retail, dining and lifestyle amenities to the West of Chestnut community in downtown Quincy. In addition to OrangeTheory Fitness, KKatie’s Burger Bar, and Fuji, West of Chestnut also expects to add a café-bakery to join its list of outward-facing amenities. Other features at West of Chestnut include a cross-training studio, a club suite with a lounge and media room, a dog-wash room, and an outdoor kitchen, fireplace and courtyard.

Gate Residential will celebrate the project’s opening at West of Chestnut Wednesday, October 12 at 5:30 p.m.

Gate Residential began construction on West of Chestnut last year following the 2014 announcement of a new joint venture with landowner Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company. Quincy Mutual, which has been in continuous operation in Quincy since it was founded in 1851, is a major investor in the downtown redevelopment.

West of Chestnut is one of many new developments set for Quincy Center, which will include the renovated Quincy Center MBTA station, the newly-remodeled City Hall, and the expected Adams Green urban park. A second phase of West of Chestnut, called East of Chestnut – featuring 220 units with additional amenity and retail space, is also planned.

As a leading Boston-based developer, Gate Residential creates vibrant apartment communities in targeted urban areas near highly desirable employment and university markets that are easily accessible by public transportation. Founded in 2010, Gate Residential Properties, LLC is the multifamily development and investment arm of Redgate Holdings, LLC.

West of Chestnut, a $60 million development set for Quincy Center, features 169 highly-amenitized residential units in two six-story urban midrise buildings – including approximately 12,400 square feet of commercial and retail space on the ground level that will feature restaurants and active retail stores. Amenities include a top-of-the-line fitness center, cross-training studio, a club suite with a lounging media room, a dog-wash room, and an outdoor kitchen, fireplace and courtyard.
