What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? I worked on the renovation of a historic, 18,100-square-foot mansion. The home had previously been under construction, so I was proud to be part of the team that was able to take over the project and bring the owners’ vision to life.

When I’m not working I am…Spending quality time with family and friends. I’m also currently traveling for jobs, so I’ve had the opportunity to explore New York City while I’m working on a project there. 

Who or what inspired you to join the construction industry? My dad! I was the oldest child, so I was his right hand on any project he was doing around the house. Once I was older, I accepted an internship opportunity at a construction management firm, and the rest is history. 

What are you doing differently in 2020 that has had a positive impact on your career? This is broader than an individual change, but I am currently working on a Luxury Homes project team that is comprised solely of women. It’s been really incredible to be part of—and, admittedly, a very new experience because it is so atypical in this industry. We’ve all been learning from each other in terms of communication and work styles. 

What trends are you seeing in your field this year? I’ve been noticing the different ways new technology is being implemented into our day-to-day operations. For example, one architect I am working with has begun using a software that allows us to manipulate sunlight and other factors so we can see how different finishes will look on the fly. It’s allowing clients to better visualize the space and make decisions more quickly, which is invaluable to both the client and our team.
