Wollinger of WinnResidential receives Industry Excellence Award from the Rental Housing Association

The Rental Housing Association (RHA) honored William Wollinger, president and COO of WinnResidential with the 2009 Industry Excellence Award. The Industry Excellence Award is presented each year to an individual within the rental housing industry who exemplifies excellence in rental housing through community and civic involvement and professionalism in all aspects of multi-family development, ownership and management. The RHA, an affiliate of the National Apartment Association, consists of over 525 members who own, manage, develop or supply goods and services to multi-family properties in Massachusetts. Wollinger has been in the property management business for more than 35 years, and joined WinnCompanies in 1979 as general manager. Since that time he has presided over the expansion of the company to its current size of 310 locations, providing more than 75,000 homes to a diverse population throughout the country. WinnResidential is one of the largest managers of multi-family housing in New England, one of the largest managers of privatized military housing in the country, and in 2009 the organization was recognized by the National Multi-Housing Council as one of the 8th largest property management organizations in the nation. "It is a true honor to receive this award," Wollinger said. "I have had the opportunity to do work that I love, and to contribute to an incredible industry while continuing to work with some of the most amazing and talented people." William Wollinger is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and also served as an officer in the United States Army, with an extended tour of duty in Vietnam. As a medical evacuation pilot he flew more than 2,000 combat missions. "Bill makes our company proud each and every day, and we are excited to see him receive this well deserved industry recognition," said Winn Companies managing principle Gilbert Winn. "He joined our company 30 years ago when we owned just five properties, and has help guide our expansion to become one of the largest and most recognized management companies in the country." Also recognized at the Presidents Awards Dinner, held at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum in Boston, was congressman Richard Neal. Neal received the Public Service Award presented annually to an individual who best exemplifies excellence in public service benefitting the rental housing community. Headquartered in Boston with over 2,000 employees, WinnCompanies has over 35 years of experience in the development and management of properties throughout the United States with real estate holdings valued in excess of $1.5 billion.
