WS Development unveils plans for The Shops at Blackstone Valley

Millbury, MA The Shops at Blackstone Valley, Central Massachusetts’ open-air shopping destination, has unveiled plans for nearly 35,000 s/f of new retail space under development. Targeting completion of the base construction in mid-2026, two new centrally located buildings will introduce around ten new businesses in the months to follow, further enhancing the property’s dynamic mix of shopping, dining, wellness, and entertainment.

Anchored by upscale-casual eatery, Yard House, this new destination will feature a curated mix of retailers, restaurants and wellness concepts, including modern day burger stand Shake Shack, Sweetgreen, known for its chef-crafted salads, plates and bowls, and LaserAway, America’s largest med spa chain which specializes in treatments such as laser hair removal, laser facials, Botox, and CoolSculpting, with more to be announced in the coming months. Designed to complement the existing open-air experience, the new buildings will offer alfresco dining opportunities, creating inviting spaces for guests to gather, dine, and relax.

“The Shops at Blackstone Valley continues to evolve as a destination that reflects how our community shops, dines, and spends time together,” said Eric Smookler, vice chairman and co-CIO of WS Development. “With the addition of these new offerings, we’re expanding our roster while enhancing the overall guest experience through exciting retail, exceptional dining, and thoughtfully designed spaces.”

Alongside the main drive aisle across from Apple and lululemon, the new buildings have been designed in collaboration with RJ O’Connell, MDLA, and Colliers, and align with a series of property-wide enhancements. Planned improvements include new walkways, landscaping, and pedestrian connections that will improve walkability and create seamless access throughout The Shops.

The property has also partnered with Electrify America, the largest open Hyper-Fast electric vehicle (EV) charging network in the U.S., to introduce state-of-the-art EV charging stations this winter, expanding guest amenities and supporting sustainable transportation options.

This announcement builds on a strong period of momentum at The Shops, which has recently welcomed globally recognized brands such as Apple and Coach. Other highly anticipated openings are slated for this year, including the lifestyle, activewear, and intimates brand, Aerie, and local Italian restaurant Avvio Ristorante, arriving in Summer 2026
