Weymouth, MA CTA Construction Managers has been awarded a contract for the new $24.1 million 50,000 s/f Tufts Library. The project is a cooperative venture between the town and the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program, which awarded the town $12 million for the construction of a new library.

“We are thrilled to have been selected as the construction managers for this exciting project that will feature a variety of reading and community spaces and the latest technology,” said Jeffery Hazelwood, principal at CTA Construction. “This new, state-of-the-art library will serve the community for generations to come, and we are looking forward to working with the Town of Weymouth and all of our partners as we begin the remediation and construction process.”

The project will demolish the existing Tufts Library building, which is over 50 years old, and construct a new and modern library on the same site. The planned library will include an expanded children’s services department, community meeting rooms, open reading areas, study rooms, a local history center, and an outdoor amphitheater along with other outdoor open spaces.

The new Tufts Library will also feature innovative technology, including a media lab that will support computer modeling and advanced audio-visual projects and upgraded public computers and wireless Internet.

CTA Construction is working alongside the Architect Tappe Architects, Inc. and the owner’s project manager Hill International on the project. The project is slated to be completed in summer of 2020.
